Where's the fault of San Andreas

San Andreas 2: Dwayne Johnson is to blame for the late sequel

While the coronavirus continues to paralyze the film industry, numerous blockbusters have to postpone their start date. For example, films like James Bond: No Time To Die, A Quiet Place 2 and Mission: Impossible 7 will hit theaters later than originally planned. We also have to wait a while for the action sequel San Andreas 2. However, this is not due to the pandemic, but to leading actor and Hollywood legend Dwayne Johnson.

The American disaster film San Andreas was released in 2015. Directed by Brad Peyton, while the story was written by Carlton Cuse. We see Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino and Ioan Gruffudd in the leading roles. The film was a box office success and grossed more than $ 474 million. Not a bad accomplishment on a $ 110 million budget.

So it is hardly surprising that they are now working on a sequel. It will take a while before this runs across the canvases. Director Brad Peyton and Dwayne Johnson are set to work together again as a duo on the film. In theory, Peyton would be ready to start shooting too. Unfortunately, the project has so far stuck with Johnson, because the star has her hands full.

Peyton reveals that Johnson's schedule seems so busy that he just can't get around to starting San Andreas 2. The filmmaker told The Beat that he loves working with Johnson. In fact, Johnson already has more than enough to do with other projects. This includes, for example, the Netflix flick Red Notice. Work on it recently had to be stopped due to the Corona crisis. Of course, fans are also waiting for the Disney adventure film Jungle Cruise, in which Johnson will also play one of the leading roles. It will be some time before we can expect San Andreas 2. What do you want most from the sequel?
