Delphi 6 can be used to program applications that run under all Windows operating systems. Detailed online help and many examples help you get started with the new programming language.

The scope of delivery includes a two-way tool and the visual component library VCL with more than 85 reusable components such as menus, file tree views and text windows.

In addition to the free download, there is also the option of ordering the Delphi 6 Personal for 129 euros on CD from Borland. Printed documentation and installation help are also included here.

Before the free download can be started, a user account must first be set up with Borland and an English-language survey must be taken. The future Delphi 6 programmer then receives a serial number and an activation code by mail, which is required for the installation of Delphi 6.

The total download is 140 megabytes.

Danger:

Due to the high access rates to the Borland server, only meager transfer rates of around 11 kilobytes per second were currently possible. It is best to use a download manager such as FlashGet or the Download Accelerator. This not only improves the transfer rate, but the download can be continued without any problems in the event of an interruption.
