What does NRAM stand for

RAM (memory): what's behind it?

The more RAM a computer has, the faster it runs. But of course not only the performance increases, but also the price of a device with a more powerful main memory. Therefore, you should check in advance how much RAM memory you will actually need. That in turn depends, among other things, on what work you do and how many programsat the same timeto run.

For a tablet that is only used for surfing, 2 GB of RAM is completely sufficient. Buy a PC for that professional useIn order to carry out complex work such as video editing or game development, for example, it is worth investing in 8 GB or 16 GB RAM.

As a small guide you can stick to the following values:

  • 4 GB of RAM: If you mainly use your device for surfing, sending e-mails and working with Office applications, 4 GB of RAM is sufficient.
  • 8 GB of RAM: Eight gigabytes of RAM memory is ideal if you use your computer frequently and like to run several applications at the same time. The size of the main memory is also sufficient for many current games without extravagant requirements.
  • 16 GB of RAM: A 16 GB RAM is particularly suitable for intensive gaming and computationally intensive tasks such as video editing and programming.

If you already know which programs you are using before buying, it is advisable to observe the recommendations and minimum requirements of these applications.

Smartphone users usually submit RAM with 2 to 4 GB RAM. Such working memories are already built into cheaper Android cell phones. Apple equips its smartphones as well as the current iPhone XR, for example, with 3 GB of RAM. There are also smartphones with 8 GB of RAM, but these can be assigned to the high-end segment.
