Gorilla trekking in Rwanda

The most famous national park in the country - the Parc National des Volcans (volcano national park) - was the place of activity of the gorilla researcher Dian Fossey for a long time and is now again easily accessible on a gorilla trek through Rwanda. Many of the last mountain gorillas on the continent live in Rwanda. The habituated groups are under strict species protection and can be visited in small groups of visitors. The "Thousand Hills" of Rwanda are worth a trip just because of the fantastic sight! Rwanda's Volcano National Park currently has eleven habituated gorilla families, ten of which can be visited during the Rwanda safari. The families are called Titus, Susa A, Karisimbi (or Susa B), Amahoro, Umubano, Sabinyo, Agashya, Kwitondo, Hirwa, Uganda and Bwenge. 80 gorilla permits are available daily and the guests are divided into the individual groups at 8:00 a.m. at the park headquarters. Preferences for individual groups are taken into account, but cannot be guaranteed. Those who want to enjoy even more experiences with the imposing mountain gorillas can combine the safari in Rwanda with a safari in Uganda and visit the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the mountain gorillas.

The small 26,338 square kilometer Rwanda lies between Lake Victoria in the east and Lake Kivu in the west, which Africa connoisseurs consider to be the most attractive lake in the Central African Rift. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the many small islands and mighty mountain ranges on the side of the neighboring country in the west, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on your Rwanda tour.

Rwanda borders Uganda in the north, Tanzania in the east and Burundi in the south. A combination of your Rwanda tour with a safari in Uganda is particularly attractive and offers you many more breathtaking experiences in nature.

Visit the following attractions while on safari in Rwanda:
